A couple of people wanted it, so I did a couple of little changes to make it happy. All I've done actually is recoded the sample sequencer so it streams to a loopedbuffer, no optimisations to fx, no new shit. Just a grimey that you can run on the falcon.. If you're interested, the ste version just brutally triggers successive samples, unfortunately the falcon doesnt seem to like this technique much and clicks like a beeach. There's also some discrepancies between STE and Falcon DMA/ym levels. I've to get the balance as close to the original as posible. Still 50hz only pleaze.. Right well I guess i can put this thing to rest now and start on my new stuff. If you're interested I think I'll be doing some sound experiments. Big up the communal atari chest :) Damo/resgodz 12/05/03 damo@reservoir-gods.com ;----------------------- O.K, so this is the ste version of my little EIL entry, 'Grimey'. It's been a real pain in the ass getting this thing to run on a 1 meg machine, mainly due to my extremely wasteful coding techniques, but yo, we made it! It was never going to win any prizes at the party, the competition was just too damn HOT! but I hope you enjoy it anyway! It's a little bit unconventional, things potentially worthy mention are the music, which is my own digi sequencer, teamed with a bugged out ym replay rout, called every forth vbl(!). It sounds sick, that was the idea :) I'm also really happy with the sequencer, it allowed timing accuracy of 1/24th of a bar for fx, music, and palette, which basically means very quick and precise sync was possible. Not alot of fun to work out, but hey! Typing 160 different palettes by hand isn't the best way to waste your time trust me :) The Falcon runnable version will follow pretty soon, there's some serious discrepancies between the sound systems of the ste/falcon, and getting the balance right between ym and digi on the falc has proved to be very tricky, so it looks like I'll have to regenerate the samples for a Falcon-only version. Also, i'm gonna have to implement a buffered sample replay system for the falc, as it's much less happy to trigger different samples in succession. This demo wouldn't have been possible without the assistance and support of a few guys, massive thanks to Pink, EarX, and Ray for their help along the way, and I also wanna send a massive shout to the man SH3, for knocking out graf after graf on demand! Far too much great stuff to use in the end, cheers for the effort Kev. Final props will always go to my friend Tat, who got me on the right tracks way back in the day. Well i'm glad to get this thing out of the way - 2 of the longest months of my life. Time to push things forward with some new releases... O.K, a note to emulator lovers. I've tested grimey in Steem, and its not 100 percent correct. The digi doesnt stream properly, and the ym seems to play a few semitones too low. So in short, dont bother with the emulators, use a real st to get the full coup.. O.K, enough bullshit. time to get Grimey! Damo/RG 24/04/03
