P re M illenium P arty by FUN Industries 1999 This is the final version of my entry for the 16 colour GFX compo called: E V O L U T I O N ? ---------------------------- L A R I O B R O S . Since this is the final version of this picture, i am not extremely happy with the result, but satisfied. As the rules of the compo said, i entered a preview into the compo which just lacked the background and only featured some very very simple logos. This is the final version of the picture now. Okay. The picture may be copied freely, looked at and laughed about now but do NOT - i repeat - do NOT change it, use it in your demos/games or other productions and do NOT include it into any demo or game or whatever you are programming currently. This picture is property (he he) of the Lunatic Asylum and may only be used in Lunatic Asylum productions. Enough of that silly talk. Let me talk some more nonsense about this picture. I started relatively late when i had the idea of (ab)using Lara Croft in the picture for this compo, about 2 weeks before the party. Although i spent quite some time working on this picture, i could of course only work on it in the evenings and i had enough other things to do so things moved slowly. When i went to Utrecht for the party then, only Lara was almost finished, she still lacked one hand and parts of the backpack. I finished that as well as the crab, Mario and the logos (ha ha) in Utrecht at the party where i spent more or less 11 hours nonstop on this picture. At that time i had a lot of subtitles for this picture already. "The ordered dither experiment" "What PC and PSX could never give Lara" "Men and their toys" ... and some other senseless name. The name of the picture is now "Evolution ?" with the subtitle "Lario Bros." being more important now though. All in all, the picture took about 32 hours to complete i think. When doing this picture i had a picture from EdO in mind which displayed the profile of a girl in some rather bright shades of red. The picture was used in Sweety, the current DHS ST demo. I wondered why EdO's ordered dither looked so much better than mine and i figured that i was using the worst possible colours for the ordered dither when EdO finally told me that he always uses STE-palette for his pictures ... Okay, NOW i understand why his ordered dither looks so much better. ;-) Of course MY picture only features STf palette. There go the fine colour-shades this picture would have needed. :-P Anyhow, i am satisfied with the picture as it is. Okay, although highly unsuitable, i have to/want to greet a few people around PMP - Hi NUT, thanks for a route-description that almost drove anybody crazy - Hi Havoc, sorry for beating you at the 16-colour compo this time. ;-) - Hi mOd, thanks for your help and criticism, sorry that the logos are not being featured anymore. ;-) - Hi Marcstar, thanks for almost ripping your car into 2 halfs when going to the partyplace. Nice tent. :-) - Hi Arnel, thanks for looking even worse when standing up on Sunday than we did. - Hi 505 - Hi Creature XL, i hope your PI1 -> XL-graphic-format routine runs now - Hi Ph3n0 and Tinker for companionship on our way to the supermarket, also thanks for being an (almost) worthy opponent in our constant little spoken duels. :-) More greetings go to the Frenchies that played "YMCA" around 15645723565 times, to EdO and FroST, to Comp7, D-Force, TheMatch, EarX of course, DEAM and his dad, Jim, the guys from Torment, Richard Karsmakers, MC Laser, Creature XL, Mad Butcher, Baggio, Rene the 8-bit hero, a dutch 8bit hero that obviously had a problem with Commodore, but kept filled burning 3D cubes alive, everyone else at PMP who i accidentally forgot to mention, i didn't do it on purpose. So, i am quite brainwashed now, but happy and besides, i am listening to the title-tune of Last Ninja 3 using FlaySID ... Tao is right, SID rocks. Outa' here ...
