The URL extractor
XURL (pronounced ZURL) extracts URLs such as http:// from a file and adds them to an html document that can be loaded into a browser so that you no longer have to write them down and then type them into your web browser.
New features in v2.31:
- Support for ftp:// and mailto: URLs.
- Ability to view the .html file in a browser (i.e. CAB) immediately after extraction. VASTART is used if the browser is already running, otherwise it is launched via shel_write.
- <HR> Horizontal Rule written to separate 'new' extractions from existing ones, so you can see at a glance which are the new ones just extracted.
- Status bar now shows a real-time count of how many URLs have been extracted/ignored during processing.
- XURL now accepts a full pathname via a command line and uses it as a default 'source' path. Dragging a file from the desktop onto the XURL icon results in that file being defaulted into XURLs 'source' field ready for extraction.
- The new 'About' dialogue allows 'copying' of the author's email address and/or URL to the clipboard, ready for pasting into a relevant program. Double clicking on the email address or URL will launch it into an email program/browser.
XURL is available from Gary Priest's web site:
http://www.the-gap.demon.co.uk/
Or you can get a copy with CoSTa, his phone call costing program, on FaST Club disk AP.914.
