The UK Atari scene was nearly irrepairably damaged when the last two news stand magazines bit the dust. Thankfully, a group of enthusiasts got together and led by Mike Kerslake they produced the one thing the Atari market really needed - a new paper based magazine. Unlike most of the past Atari magazines, Atari Computing is entirely put together on Atari computers and it just goes to prove that there is nothing the range cannot do! Atari Computing's Editor, Joe Connor, has done an excellent job and without him the magazine may not be where it is today - in the homes of all serious Atari users! There is something for just about every Atari user here from game reviews to articles on multitasking! Atari Computing also has regular sections from AtariPhile, Maggie and Calamus User - all leading publications! There are contributions from many well known Atarians too, each one bringing their own experiences of the Atari platform to their articles. Atari Computing is aimed very much at the users - if it wasn't for them then there would be no magazine! Issue 5's pages are packed with an amazing amount of well written articles. Reviews include HTML Sourcebook, Power Up, Gemulator '96 and Crown of creation, and theres also preview of Willies Adventures by yours truly!. Features include 'Dr Steves house of upgrade horrors!' and a couple of pages on Disk Copying. There really is too much to list here and this is only a small sample of what the magazine offers. After the massive decline in 1996, the Atari market has finally stablised and now, led by Atari Computing, it is finally on the rise again! Unlike the final few issues of ST Format, Atari Computing is looking very healthy and hopefully it'll have a very bright future! To be honest, I can't really recommend Atari Computing enough. If you are an Atari user and you haven't seen the magazine then you are really missing out. Go out and subscribe today!
