Soon thereafter, I took the back off of the monitor & proceeded to adjust every pot in sight, hoping that I could get it to look like my friend's. The new version has the follow advantages over Eric Smith's original port: o It's about 30k smaller (not much :-( ) o It doesn't die if given a 14 char filename (Minix partition) o You can now put a hostname in PS1/PS2 prompts (I call my machine tiny68) o It doesn't appear to suffer from the bug afflicting both BASH and ksh which causes them to send themselves SIGSTOP at a random point in time. A much easier way is to use a formatter that does it for you. Most programs that offer formatting do (including the hardcoded one in TOS 1.4). For a quick solution, ps2form.tos from atari.archive.umich.edu works for me. It will format disks so they can be read by any IBM compat (including the ps/2, which for some reason has more trouble that others). I have been using it for about 3 years with no problems. Also, Neodesk 3.0 formats to IBM specs, as does (I think) Universal Item Selector III. -- ---------------------------------+------------------------------------- Mickey R. Boyd | "Kirk to Enterprise.
