They are commercial but in my opinion the comprise the finest utility software available for ST/TT line. For a long time I have used Norton Utilities on the IBM and the Mac and have gained a lot of respect for these products of Peter Norton. The CodeHead stuff has been close, but the latest update of Maxifle has forged ahead and is now better than either version of Pete's work. Maxifile III combines elements of IBM and Mac versions, with toggleable source and destination windows, filters, fastfind withe a function key running your choice of the found files. Automatic viewing of text files, etc. When you combine this with CoKeys macros, Little Green File selector, and MultiDesk, you have a whole system that has kept me from seeing the desktop for a LONG time. The more you know the more useful these utls get, with command lines and abilitiy to chain files and programs, install apps, have global menu items in Hotwire which are maintained the same while the rest of the menu changes, etc., etc. This is _good_ software, at a reasonable price, with _outstanding_ developer support, aftersale. No I have connection with them except to think that C.F.Johnson and John Eidsvoog are great guys, and I love their software. Dave_Ninjajr_Flory@cup.portal.com D.FLORY, A.L.E.R.T. This is the first time in years that I have posted a question twice and gotten no replies, so perhaps my mailer isn't working correctly. I have been using postnews, so this time I am submitting a follow-up article to see if it gets out. I once hard of a product called "Turbo-Jet" (??) my NeoCept (??) Anone else heard of this. As a final straw (yes, I am this deparate), does anyone know of any good cheap, word processors that use GDOS that come with a good DeskJet driver? How about DTP programs? I have the original version of Fleet Street, but it doesn't use GDOS. Also, I recall seeing a review of some printing utility that came with a GDOS driver for the deskjet. I doubt anyone in the US has seen a Mega STe 1 yet, but the reports on the F-Net feeds are that Atari has purposely crippled the system (similar to the way they crippled the Mega ST2) to prevent upgrading it. TOS 1.4 and pinhead both suppress filling all of (allocated) memory with zeroes before loading and executing the program. That's all. I got a program that compressed programs, which then un-compressed upon executing, but I had a lot of trouble with it. I use Wordflair II for all my text processing on the Atari (the reason for that is that I have written some parts of it). Anyway, it has all the features I need in a basic word processor like tabs, indents, hyphenation, spell-checker, and automatic page numbering. I get all this with decent looking output (yes it works great with FSM) and once in a while when I do want to import a graphic or mail-merge a letter to a couple of addresses I can do so without having to set up a new program, convert formats and mess around with printer-drivers.
