I don't know if anyone else notices, almost in any popular PC magazines, such as Byte, InfoWorld, etc, every once while you will see a letter from an Amiga owner loudly protested a previous article, saying the article forgot to mention about his Amiga already can do so-and-so. It seems these people always feel insecure and need others attention. Now can we just go back each's own newsgroup? -- Jinfu Chen (602)898-5338 | Disclaimer: Motorola, Inc. Message-ID: <16000047@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu> Don't know if you guys know this yet... My TOS 1.4 is in the mail, so I decided to get Gemini 1.1 and test it out. Gemini.prg won't run, but mupfel and venus work independently, so... if you put all the venus and mupfel files into one directory... (I put them in C:\Gemini), and you set mupfel.mup to run venus.prg, you gen get a working version of the desktop. I haven't noticed any bugs yet (about 4 hours of fooling around) except for the same thing that happens in NeoDesk to WERCS... I assume it has to do with the autoboot.prg (which runs a GEM app). I've tried the one that uses a .INF in the root directory and one which saves the filename in itself (mkboot?), and they both cause WERCS to crash. If I take it out, I can run WERCS... any ideas? (Yeah, wait for TOS 1.4). P.S. Are FATSPEED and PINHEAD incompatible when run in the opposite order? (i.e. PINHEAD then FATSPEED) -- Greg ------------------------------ Date: 10 Apr 90 09:39:00 GMT From: usc!brutus.cs.uiuc.edu!ux1.cso.uiuc.edu!ux1.cso.uiuc.edu!cs325ec@ucsd.edu Subject: HiSoft Basic Supexec problem... I got a copy of the spreadsheet and charting program OPUS by Doug Harrison via listserv@uoguelph. After reading the docs i found out, that there are some programs missing (e.g. the Assigner.prg, which helps to install GDOS. Who is working with this program and can help us, perhaps send a complete version of OPUS? I am really interested in this program and I'd like to get registered, but first I want to try it. Are you interested in becoming involved in a snail mail list of ST users? I know that most of you will be like me and quite happy using the Email facilities at your site, but spare a thought for us final year students who will soon be losing all access to such facilities if the company we join has not got network links!! (Arrgghh, too horrid to consider!). So to get around this I was wondering if any of you would like to help me get a list together of interested parties who could then keep in touch and prevent themselves losing touch with the ST community at large (this would be especially easy if someone who still had net access could summarise current topics or forward news and advice!) I'm not thinking of anything major league for the entries on the list, just sort of name, address, interests and optionally a few lines about yourself. eg Simon Chappell. s61304@uk.ac.psw.pa (goes away after June) 51 Amherst Road, Penny-Come-Quick, Plymouth, Devon, PL3 4HJ. UK. C, operating systems (UNIX, VMS) & relational databases. This would be roughly what my record would read, so if you are interested compose something for yourself along the above lines (you can have 5 lines of text about your self if you want! :-) and send it to me either by Email (until June) or at the above address (anytime). I am working now on a list for the UK and when both lists are complete I will Email a copy to everyone that wants one. I hope that this generates a reasonable level of interest, so don't be shy! Contact me sooner rather than leter and lets all keep in touch! :-) Regards, Simon | Simon Chappell | BSc(Hons) Computing and Informatics (final year) | Polytechnic South West (Plymouth) | | JANET S61304@uk.ac.psw.pa BITNET S61304@pa.psw.ac.uk | INTERNET S61304%uk.ac.psw.pa@nsfnet-relay.ac.uk ------------------------------ End of INFO-ATARI16 Digest V90 Issue #431 *****************************************
