Xmas Issue AP#4

If you are unable to view this magazine in 256 colour mode, we recommend you use 16 colour mode and select "Geryscale Images" in your browser's display options

This is a Christmas bonus issue of AtariPhile - an XmasPhile! If you received AP#4 on disk, it comes on one High Density or two Double Density disks, so make sure you have it all! [see the readme file for instructions on viewing AP#4 on two DD disks].

Domhnall Dods joins Kev and Colin on the editorial staff - see the NewsPhile for full details of the changes in the Falcon FacTT File organisation.

Our main feature this issue is a joint venture between ourselves and the new magazine - Atari Computing. Joe Connor and Kev Beardsworth take a look at replacement desktops. For this reason, Kev's planned feature on "Archiving" has been postponed to AP#5.

You get two features in this special XmasPhile - Martyn Tidd has written an excellent article on Multitasking. The obvious main contenders being MagiC 5 and Geneva 05.

Midi is mow covered for the first time and we are pleased to announce that Owen Philp joins AtariPhile with a new regular feature - MidiPhile.

Keith Turner-Cairns [of Cubase CD fame] has written an article on "Scoring on Cubase" and David J. Williams starts a new series of articles to help you to get the best "Music In MIDI".

On the review side we have "Papyrus 4 as an upgrade" [look out for the full review in AP#5], Infopedia CD encyclopedia and the final part of the Positive Image.

There is a preview of Videlity, the very impressive screen enhancer from Black Scorpions and a pre-pre-preview sneak look at an Apex Alpha screenshot.

Thanks must go to Frank Charlton and Netkonect for our new ftp site. All issues of AtariPhile will be made available for download. See our news page for information on how to use this service.

Finally we would like to thank Martin Stacey and Dave Meaker of Walusoft for their continued help, support, advice and web space.

You'll also have the pleasure of knowing that you have helped towards the continued support of our beloved computer. Advertisements, questions, letters, hints and tips will become regular sections as long as you supply items for inclusion. Submissions are accepted for publication only if supplied on disk in ASCII format [or Email/NetMail].

The reviews/articles are no longer posted in our NeST echo, but are distributed as an archive via FanFiles. Each issue is placed on our www and ftp sites.
