Way back in the mists of time......well OK it was before Atariphile was launched, the FacTT File reviewed the SyQuest EZ135 removeable hard drive. These drives have justifiably become popular among computer users on all platforms and Atari users have been no exception. As you may know the drive offers a hefty 135 Megabytes of storage on removeable cartridges which weigh in at around sixteen pounds each. One of the most attractive features of the drive is that it is reasonably portable making it ideal for those who wish to transfer data between several machines.
SyQuest are obviously aware of the portable possibilities of their EZ drives and have therefore produced a custom designed carrying case for EZ owners. The case is similar to the many laptop cases you may have seen in computer shops but is custom designed to carry the EZ drive, power supply and a couple of cartridges. The main compartment is padded to protect your drive and is split in two by a partition which can be removed if you want to use the case for carrying anything larger than the drive itself. Smaller items such as cartridges can be stored safely in the pocket attached to the lid of the case. The outside is well finished in black and even has a rather natty embroidered SyQuest logo in case you forget what's inside. The adjustable shoulder type strap for carrying purposes completes the whole package.
If you do use your SyQuest on the move this little accessory is an essential investment. Not only does it keep everything together in one case but it also protects your drive from damage.
