MagiC IDE Patch v2.2 (March 20, 1999) Written by Daniel Hedberg of New Beat http://newbeat.atari.org WHAT THIS PATCH DOES -------------------------------------------------------------------- MAGPATCH.TTP forces MagiC to skip the check for IDE drives on Atari Falcon030 compatible computers. This check is very annoying on systems with SCSI devices only as it takes MagiC almost a minute to discover there are no IDE drives present. MagiC IDE Patch now also supports the H&N Multiboard for the Atari ST. This board provides the Atari ST with up to 8 Mb of TT-RAM, TOS v2.06 and, the possibility to connect IDE devices. If no IDE device is present, use this patch to speed up the boot sequence of MagiC. This version should be able to patch all currently existing and future versions of MagiC. For safety reasons, make sure you have a backup of the MAGIC.RAM file before you go ahead and patch it. I take no responsibility whatsoever for this patch, you are entirerly on your own if you intend to use it. HOW TO USE IT -------------------------------------------------------------------- The easiest way to patch your copy of MagiC is by using the "drag and drop" technique. Locate the MAGIC.RAM file (should be located in the root-directory of your boot drive) and drag it to the MAGPATCH.TTP file, and drop it when it becomes selected. Another way is to double click on the MAGPATCH.TTP file and enter the path to the MAGIC.RAM file (e.g. C:\MAGIC.RAM) in the dialog box that appears. The program will now load the MAGIC.RAM file and patch it. If anything goes wrong you will be notified. If not, you will never have to wait in agony for MagiC to boot-up anymore.
